Farmers’ Market

What’s a Farmers’ Market?

Farmers’ Markets are where local farmers, growers or producers are present in person to sell their own produce, direct to the public. All products sold have been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stallholder.

You can be confident of the origins of the foods, ask questions, pick up recipes, and get closer to the sources of local foods.

Farmers’ Markets bring the best of Scottish produce direct to you, the consumer.

Balerno Farmers’ Market

Balerno Farmers’ Market is held in Main Street on the second Saturday of the month (click here to check dates). The official opening times are 9.30am - 1.30pm but it’s advisable to get there early for the pick of the produce!

It’s a great place to do your shopping - and more. There’s a wonderful friendly village atmosphere. Every month different village organisations run events at the same time as the market, such as exhibitions, and of course, coffee mornings.

Make a note to come long next month - or combine it with a trip to the Pentland Hills for a wonderful day out.

The Balerno Farmers’ Market is organised by the Balerno Conservation and Development Forum.
